Rihards Dubra (born 28 February 1964 in Riga, Latvian SSR, Soviet Union) is a Latvian composer. Many of his works are religiously influenced, including a Te Deum and an Alma Redemptoris Mater for soprano saxophone, choir, and organ. Rihards Dubra was commissioned by Louth Contemporary Music Society (County Louth, Republic of Ireland) to write his first choral piece in English based on the words of 'Hail Holy Queen'. The world première was given by the State Choir Latvija in February 2008 in St.Patrick's Cathedral Church, Dundalk.

Dubra studierte Musiktheorie und Komposition an der Emils-Darzins-Musikschule und an der lettischen Musikakademie bei Juris Karlsons. 1997 beendete er sein Studium mit einem Masters Abschluss in Komposition. Er war einige Jahre als Organist an der katholischen Kirche Mater Dolorosa in Riga tätig. Er ist einer der Gründer und Leiter der Gruppe Schola Cantorum Riga. Außerdem ist er als Lehrer für Musiktheorie und Komposition an der Musikschule in Jurmala tätig.

  • Rihards Dubra (né le 28 février 1964 à Riga) est un compositeur letton. Rihards Dubra a d'abord étudié la musique à Jurmala puis à l'École de Musique Emīls Dārziņš, à Riga. En 1989 il est reçu au diplôme de compositeur au Conservatoire d'État Letton. En 1996 il réussit un Master à l'Académie Musicale de Lettonie. Parallèlement à ses études, il enseignait l'harmonie et la composition à l'École de Musique de Jurmala, où il travaille encore aujourd'hui Rihards Dubra a été organiste à l'église Notre-Dame de la Souffrance, puis chef de chœur et organiste à l'église Sainte-Marie-Madeleine de Riga.
