Philip Aaberg (born April 8, 1949) is an American pianist and composer. He gained international recognition through a series of successful piano recordings released on Windham Hill Records. Although classically trained, Aaberg incorporates classical, jazz, bluegrass, rock, and new music elements into his compositions and musical structures. Although best known for his solo piano work, he is most at home in the chamber jazz genre. His compositions are noted for their "rigorous keyboard technique, diverse influences, and colorful compositional style."

  • Philip Aaberg (* 8. April 1949 in Havre, Montana) ist ein US-amerikanischer Pianist und Komponist. Aaberg wuchs in Chester, Montana auf und spielte dort schon in jungen Jahren Klavier. Seinen ersten Auftritt als Pianist hatte er mit sieben Jahren. Mit vierzehn spielte er Schlagzeug in einer Rock ’n’ Roll-Band. Seine ersten Konzerte als Klaviersolist mit großem Orchester gab er im Alter von sechzehn Jahren. Er schloss die High School 1967 ab, danach studierte er Klavier. Aaberg beherrscht verschiedenste Musikstile wie Rock, New-Age, Boogie-Woogie, Blues und Jazz bis hin zur Klassik und hat in allen Bereichen von Musikkritikern gelobte, teilweise preisgekrönte Platten eingespielt. Inzwischen liegt sein Schwerpunkt bei kammermusikalischen Jazz. (de)
