Ulvi Cemal Erkin (Turkish pronunciation: [ulˈvi dʒeˈmal eɾˈcin]) (March 14, 1906 – September 15, 1972) was a member of the pioneer group of symphonic composers in Turkey, born in the period 1904 – 1910, who later came to be called The Turkish Five. These composers set out the direction of music in the newly established Turkish Republic. These composers distinguished themselves with their use of Turkish folk music and modal elements in an entirely western symphonic style. Ulvi Cemal Erkin (* 14. März 1906 in Istanbul; † 2. Juni 1972 in Ankara) war ein türkischer Komponist.Erkin studierte in Paris bei Jean und Noël Gallon und Nadia Boulanger. Seit 1930 war er Professor am Staatskonservatorium in Ankara, das er 1949 bis 1951 auch leitete. Später war er auch Dirigent der Staatsoper. Er gehörte zu den Türkischen Fünf, der Gruppe der ersten professionellen Komponisten der Türkei, zu der außer ihm noch Cemal Reşid Rey, Ferid Alnar, Ahmet Adnan Saygun und Necil Kâzım Akses zählen. Eines seiner bekanntesten Stücke ist die Köçekce-Suite. ウルヴィ・ジェマル・エルキン(Ulvi Cemal Erkin、1906年3月14日 - 1972年6月2日)は、トルコの作曲家。 イスタンブール出身。パリに留学してジャン・ギャロン、ノエル・ギャロン、ナディア・ブーランジェについて学んだ。1930年よりアンカラ音楽院の教授となり、1949年から1951年まで院長を務めた。ハサン・フェリット・アルナル、ジェマル・レシット・レイ、アフメト・アドナン・サイグン、ネジル・カズム・アクセスらと「トルコ5人組」を形成した。 作品には2つの交響曲、シンフォニエッタ、ヴァイオリン協奏曲、ピアノ協奏曲、ピアノとオーケストラのための協奏交響曲、室内楽曲、混声合唱のための10のトルコ民謡、ピアノ曲、歌曲などがある。 Ulvi Cemal Erkin es uno de los miembros de Los Cinco Turcos que compusieron música clásica con melodías étnicas en el siglo XX. Wraz z Cemalem Reşitem Reyem, Ahmetem Adnanem Saygunem, Feridem Alwarem i Necilem Kâzimem Aksesem współtworzył tzw. Grupę Pięciu (Türk Beşleri). Największy rozgłos przyniosła mu rapsodia „Köçekçe” (1943).
