Niels Wilhelm Gade (22 February 1817 – 21 December 1890) was a Danish composer, conductor, violinist, organist and teacher. He is considered the most important Danish musician of his day.

Był synem stolarza, zajmującego się też budową instrumentów muzycznych. Rozpoczął pracę jako skrzypek w królewskiej orkiestrze w Kopenhadze. Jednocześnie studiował prywatnie kompozycję u Andreasa Petera Berggreena. Jego utwór „Echa Osjana” przyniósł mu nagrodę w konkursie rozpisanym 1841 przez kopenhaskie towarzystwo muzyczne. W kantacie „Sen Baldura“ nawiązał Gade do stylu Ryszarda Wagnera. (pl)
