Josef Herrmann (20 April 1903 - 19 November 1955) was a German baritone, notable for his performances in the operas of Richard Wagner. He was born in Darmstadt and made his professional debut at Kaiserslautern. He subsequently sang with the opera companies at Stettin (Szczecin), Königsberg and Nuremberg before becoming principal baritone in Dresden, where, in the 1940s, he sang roles such as Scarpia in Tosca and Iago in Otello, as well as the German repertory. In 1942, he sang in the première of Heinrich Sutermeister's literaturoper Die Zauberinsel (based on The Tempest).

  • Josef Herrmann (Darmstadt, 20 de abril de 1903 - Hildesheim, 19 de noviembre de 1955) fue un bajo barítono alemán de destacada actuación en ópera wagneriana en las décadas de 1930 y 1950. Estudió en el conservatorio de Darmstadt debutando en su ciudad natal, en Kaliningrado y en Núremberg. En 1938 cantó El holandés errante en la Semperoper de Dresden donde Karl Böhm lo contrató permanentemente como miembro del famoso elenco de esa casa lírica, permaneciendo hasta 1945 cuando la ciudad y el teatro sufrieron completa destrucción en el bombardeo de ese año.
