Considerado un clásico de la música denominada Easy-listening e Instrumental, logró popularizar dicho estilo junto con su colega contemporáneo Ray Conniff y ser ambos un éxito contundente para el sello discográfico en el cual grababan. Los principales temas de Faith son: Delicado, The song from Moulin Rouge, Theme from A summer place y Theme for young lovers, de los cuales solamente este último no llegó a la posición #1 de Billboard quedando sólo en el #35 en listas. He is often credited with popularizing the "easy listening" or "mood music" format. Faith became a staple of American popular music in the 1950s and continued well into the 1960s. Though his professional orchestra-leading career began at the height of the swing era, Faith refined and rethought orchestration techniques, including use of large string sections, to soften and fill out the brass-dominated popular music of the 1940s. - Percy Faith (Toronto (Ontario), 7 april 1908 - Encino (Californië), 9 februari 1976) was een Amerikaans componist en orkestleider van Canadese afkomst. Faith genoot zijn muzikale opleiding aan het conservatorium van Toronto. Aanvankelijk speelde hij piano maar, nadat zijn handen bij een brand ernstig verwond waren kon hij niet langer pianospelen en legde zich toen toe op het dirigeren. Vanaf 1931 had hij een eigen orkest en werd hoofdarrangeur bij de CBC, voor wie hij van 1938 tot 1940 talrijke liveconcerten voor de radio dirigeerde. In 1940 emigreerde hij naar de VS en werd in 1945 tot Amerikaan genaturaliseerd. Hij maakte opnamen voor de Voice of America. Nadat hij een korte periode voor Decca Records had gewerkt, kwam hij voor Mitch Miller bij Columbia Records onder contract. (nl)

Od 1940 mieszkał w Nowym Jorku, zajmując się komponowaniem i aranżacją. Współpracował m.in. z Tonym Bennettem, Doris Day i Johnnym Mathisem. Pisał również muzykę do filmów. Jest pierwotnym autorem piosenki "The Pelican Dance", która w aranżacji Bernarda Estardyego odgrywała rolę melodii tytułowej do programu Z kamerą wśród zwierząt. (pl)
