Oscar Levant (December 27, 1906 – August 14, 1972) was an American pianist, composer, author, comedian, and actor. He was as famous for his mordant character and witticisms, on the radio and in movies and television, as for his music.

  • Oscar Levant (* 27. Dezember 1906 in Pittsburgh; † 14. August 1972 in Beverly Hills) war ein US-amerikanischer Komponist, Konzertpianist, Arrangeur und Gelegenheitsschauspieler. Besonders bekannt wurde Levant für seine sarkastisch-humorvollen Auftritte in Film, Fernsehen und Radio. Um 1925 trat er in einem der ersten Musikkurzfilme auf, in Ben Bernie and All the Lads. Seine vielleicht bekannteste Filmrolle spielte er 1951 neben Gene Kelly in Ein Amerikaner in Paris. Hauptsächlich war Levant allerdings ein bekannter Sänger seiner Zeit. Nach seiner ersten Scheidung von Barbara Woodell im Jahre 1932 heiratete er 1939 Doris Gilmartin, mit der er drei Kinder bekam. Sie blieben bis zu seinem Tod 1972 mit 65 Jahren an einem Herzinfarkt zusammen. (de)
