Milton Katims (June 24, 1909 – February 27, 2006) was an American violist and conductor. He was music director of the Seattle Symphony for 22 years (1954–76). In that time he added more than 75 works, made recordings, premiered new pieces and led the orchestra on several tours. He expanded the orchestra's series of family and suburban outreach concerts. He is also known for his numerous transcriptions and arrangements for viola. He died in Shoreline, Wash., a suburb of Seattle, in 2006, aged 96.

Учился в Колумбийском университете, начинал как скрипач, но по совету Леона Барзена перешёл на альт. Играл в различных камерных ансамблях, на протяжении 15 лет сотрудничал с Будапештским квартетом как дополнительный альт. Преподавал альт в Джульярдской школе и в Северо-Западном университете, а также в рамках мастер-классов в Израиле и Китае. С 1943 г. Катимс занял место первого альта в Симфоническом оркестре NBC под руководством Артуро Тосканини и работал в нём вплоть до отставки Тосканини и роспуска оркестра в 1954 г.; за эти годы Катимс постепенно стал ассистентом Тосканини, и 87-летний итальянец, уходя, передал ему свою дирижёрс (ru)
