Marcel Bitsch (December 29, 1921, Toulouse – September 21, 2011, Paris) was a French composer, teacher and analyst. He studied at the Conservatoire de Paris and also was professor of counterpoint there. In his latter years he concentrated on teaching and analysing the music of (mostly) J. S. Bach, producing analytic scores whose page layout was designed to convey the music's structural features.

Bitsch studierte ab 1939 am Conservatoire de Paris bei Jean Gallon Harmonielehre, bei Noël Gallon Kontrapunkt und bei Paul-Marie Masson Musikwissenschaft. 1945 gewann er den Prix de Rome. Seit 1956 war er Professor für Kontrapunkt am Conservatoire. Er komponierte eine komische Oper, ein Ballett, sinfonische und kammermusikalische Werke sowie zahlreiche Instrumentalstücke für die Musikwettbewerbe am Conservatoire. Daneben publizierte er auch mehrere musikwissenschaftliche Schriften. (de)

Bitsch studeerde vanaf 1939 in het conservatorium te Parijs harmonieleer bij Jean Gallon, contrapunt bij Noël Gallon en muziekwetenschappen bij Paul-Marie Masson. Al in 1945 won hij zijn eerste prijs in Rome. Vanaf 1956 was hij professor contrapunt in het conservatorium. Hij componeerde een komische opera, een ballet, symfonische werken en werken voor kamermuziekorkest en verschillende stukken voor de studenten muziekwetenschappen. Hij publiceerde ook verschillende wetenschappelijke artikelen.Zijn notenleerlessen worden zeer vaak gebruikt in conservatoria, waaronder het Leuvense Lemmensinstituut. (nl)
