Antonio Gades (14 November 1936 – 20 July 2004) was a Spanish flamenco dancer and choreographer (born Antonio Esteve Ródenas in Elda, Alicante, Spain). He helped to popularise the art form on the international stage.

Er entstaubte den folkloristischen Flamenco und erhob ihn durch seine Neuinterpretation zu einer Kunstform des Theaterballetts. Gades schuf mit seinen Choreografien Bodas de Sangre, Carmen, Fuego und Fuenteovejuna Werke von internationalem Rang, die noch heute zum Repertoire der renommierten Ballett-Kompanien gehören. Mit seinem Ensemble Compañía Antonio Gades trat er an allen großen Tanztheatern der Welt auf und feierte mit seinen Aufführungen internationale Erfolge. (de)
