Gabriel Édouard Xavier Dupont (March 1, 1878 – August 1, 1914) was a French composer, known for his operas and chamber music. Dupont was born in Caen. Following after his father who was a teacher at the Malherbe secondary school and the organist at the Church Saint-Étienne in his home town, Dupont began his studies at the conservatory of music and declamation at the age of 15. There he studied harmony with Antoine Taudou, descant with André Gedalge, and composition with Jules Massenet. In 1895, he was given instruction on the organ by Alexander Guilmant. Between 1897 and 1903, he studied composition with Charles-Marie Widor.
