Alessandro Striggio (c. 1536/1537 – 29 February 1592) was an Italian composer, instrumentalist and diplomat of the Renaissance. He composed numerous madrigals as well as dramatic music, and by combining the two, became the inventor of madrigal comedy. Beide Genres verband er in der von ihm mitentwickelten Madrigalkomödie. Er war der Vater des Librettisten Alessandro Striggio. Compositore di madrigali e di musica drammatica, riuscì a combinare i due generi, creando la commedia madrigalistica. Suo figlio, omonimo, è noto per aver scritto il libretto dell'Orfeo di Monteverdi. Le marquis Alessandro Striggio (I) (né en 1537 ou 1538 à Mantoue et mort le 29 février 1592 dans cette même ville) est un instrumentiste et compositeur italien de la Renaissance. Alessandro Striggio; Мантуя, ок. 1536—1537 или 1540 год — Мантуя, 29 февраля 1592 года) — итальянский композитор позднего Возрождения; автор мадригалов и театральной музыки, сочетал жанры, создавая мадригальные комедии.
