Martial Caillebotte (1853–1910) was a French photographer and composer who was also one of the "Fathers of Philately" entered on the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists in 1921. He was the younger brother of the noted artist Gustave Caillebotte (1848-1894) and they both inherited a fortune from their father, enabling them to pursue their respective passions throughout life. He married Marie Minoret, June 7, 1887. In 1888 his wife gave birth to a son Jean, and then in 1889 a daughter Geneviève. Geneviève inherited the majority of unsold paintings by Gustave Caillebotte. * * *

  • Martial Caillebotte (* 7. April 1853 in Paris; † 16. Januar 1910 ebenda) war ein französischer Komponist, Pianist, Philatelist und Fotograf. Er studierte Musik am Pariser Konservatorium und komponierte mehrere Stücke für Klavier, einige Orchesterwerke und Lieder. Von diesen Kompositionen veröffentlichte er zu Lebzeiten nur wenige Werke. Lediglich einige seiner Orgelstücke kamen zur öffentlichen Aufführung. Zusammen mit seinem älteren Bruder Gustave Caillebotte trug er eine bedeutende Briefmarkensammlung zusammen. Der Philatelic Congress of Great Britain listet die beiden Brüder unter den 42 Personen, die von dieser Organisation als Väter der Philatelie bezeichnet werden.
