Ruggero Chiesa (Camogli, 1 August 1933 – Milan, 14 June 1993) was an italian musician, guitarist and teacher. He began studying classical guitar privately with Mario Canepa, continuing his studies with Maestro Carlo Palladino, a student of Luigi Mozzani. From 1956 and 1960 he attended the Academy Chigiana in Siena courses by renowned international guitarists such as Alirio Diaz and Emilio Pujol, from whom he learned the vihuela. He subsequently (until 1992) replaced Alirio Diaz with courses in "Transcription from tablature".

  • La sua figura è stata determinante e fondamentale per la diffusione della chitarra classica in Italia, sia sul piano culturale sia sul piano didattico. Cominciò lo studio della chitarra classica privatamente con Mario Caneva, proseguendo poi gli studi con il Maestro Carlo Palladino, allievo di Luigi Mozzani. Dal 1956 al 1960 seguì presso l'Accademia Chigiana di Siena i corsi di Andrés Segovia, Alirio Diaz ed Emilio Pujol, dal quale apprese la l'arte della trascrizione dalle antiche intavolature per liuto e vihuela. Dal 1976 fino al 1992 ha tenuto alla Chigiana i corsi di "Trascrizione dalle intavolature" affiancando il corso di chitarra di Oscar Ghiglia (it)
