Gary Brooker, MBE, (born 29 May 1943) is an English singer, songwriter, pianist and founder and lead singer of the rock band Procol Harum. He was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen's Birthday Honours on 14 June 2003, in recognition of his charitable services.

Fundó la banda The Paramounts en 1962 junto al guitarrista Robin Trower. Après quelques singles et un album, Gary Brooker quitte le groupe. Il rencontre alors Keith Reid, qui lui montre des poèmes qu'il écrit. Gary Brooker décide de les mettre en musique et tous deux proposent ces chansons à plusieurs interprètes, dont les Beach Boys, qui les refusent.
